Drago Lovrić (2 December 1961) is Croatian general and commander of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.

Biography

Drago Lovrić was born in Gornji Vukšić, near Brčko on 2 December 1961. He graduated at Military Academy of Land Army, branch Anti-Air Defence in 1983. In 1984 he becomed second lieutenant of Yugoslav People's Army and in 1987 he was promoted to captain. As captain of Yugoslav People's Army he joins to Croatian National Guard in August 1991. After he entered Croatian Army, he becomed staff officer of the Zagreb Operational Zone. In 1992 he becomed commander of 153th Brigade, and at the same time he was promited to major. In February 1993 he was promoted to colonel and he becomed commander of the 202nd Ati-Air Brigade and remains on this duty until July 1994, when he finished commanding staff course at Military College "Petar Zrinski" in Karlovac and becomed commander of General Staff of Gospić Military District. In February 1995 he becomed deputy commander of Gospić Military District and promoted to rank of brigadier.

When Croatian War of Independence finished and after Gospić Military District was dissolved in 1996 he was promoted to brigadier general and appointed as deputy commander of 1st Military District with headquarters in Karlovac. In September 1998 he was acting commander of 1st Military District, and in November 1999 he becomed deputy commander and acting commander of Directorate for Operational Actions of General Staff of Croatian Armed Forces and thus being promoted to rank of major general in 2000. In that year he becomes master of international relations at Faculty of Political Science of University of Zagreb. From November 2000 until February 2007 he was commander of Directorate for Operational Actions of General Staff of Croatian Armed Forces with break from 2003 until 2004 when he was on education in United States at National Defence University, where he got title of master of science of strategy and national resources. In 2005 he was promoted to colonel general. From September 2007 until February 2011 he was Croatian representative to NATO and European Union. On 25 February 2011 he was named commander of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Decision entered into force on 1 March 2011.

Private life

He is married to Mira Lovrić and has two children. Oženjen je Mirom s kojom ima dvoje djece.
