Kararname is a Turkish word for a proclamation, or a government decree.[1]
There have been several notable kararnameler in the history of the Ottoman empire and, later, Turkey. These include:
- Kararname (League of Prizren): Issued by the Prizren League in 1878;
- The Kararname of 1296, on the Ottoman monetary system;
- Annual decrees on army conscription levels, following the reforms of sultan Mahmud II;
- The Decree of Ali, Ali Kararname, during the Tanzimat era;
- The Ottoman Family Code, Hukuk-Ì Aile Kararnamesi, of 1917.
