André Clarindo dos Santos (born March 8, 1983), more commonly known as André Santos, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Arsenal Football Club.
Club career
Figueirense
As a child he was rarely seen without a football. His father realized his talent at an early age and placed him with his local club's academy Figueirense. André Santos, as his family calls him, developed his goal-scoring abilities by arriving on the training pitch earlier than his teammates and practicing his shooting. Santos first played professionally for Figueirense in a friendly game against Corinthians. He was promoted to the A team on July 10, 2003 .
Loan to Flamengo
Andre Santos in 2005 loan to Flamengo. Santos played 22 matches in the Série A.
Loan to Atlético Mineiro
Santos played 28 Série A matches and scored 17 goals for Atlético Mineiro.
Corinthians
He joined Corinthians in 2008. He won the Série B, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista before leaving the club.
Fenerbahçe
On July 20, 2009, he joined Turkish club Fenerbahçe[1] together with his teammate in Corinthians, Cristian Oliveira Baroni.[2] André Santos, who cost €9 million, currently plays at Fenerbahçe's left wing, winning the spot from another famous Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos who was later transferred to Corinthians.
International career
On May 21, 2009, he was called up for the first time to the Brazilian national team for 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.[3] On June 15, 2009, he made his first international appearance as a substitute in a match against Egypt.[4] He then started the following four games as Brazil went on to win the competition. After 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup he apparently beat Kléber and Marcelo to the left back position on the national team. However, he was dropped from the friendlies afterward and Dunga preferred Michel Bastos and Gilberto on the match against Republic of Ireland in February 2010. That 22-men squad against Ireland also became the backbone of 2010 FIFA World Cup squad announced on May 11.[5][6]
