Damian Martin (born September 5, 1984 in Gloucester, New South Wales) is an Australian professional basketball player currently playing in the National Basketball League for the Perth Wildcats. He is also a member of the Australian Boomers.

Junior career

Martin played NCAA Division I Basketball for Loyola Marymount University. He was a key contributor for the Lions, playing three years for the team.[1] He was named to the All-West Coast Conference Freshmen Team in his first year at the school.

Martin was a prolific player on the Australian national junior team. He was captain of the Australian team that won the gold medal at the 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship, the first in the country's history.

Professional career

Following his college career, Martin signed with the Sydney Spirit of the National Basketball League and played for the club for one season. From 2008 Martin has played for the Perth Wildcats, where he led the league in steals with 1.75 per game in the 2008-09 season.[2] He was named to the Australian senior national team for the first time at the FIBA Oceania Championship 2009 and then a second time for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
