The Devil in Drag is a play by Dario Fo
A two-act play
First produced: Messina, Teatro Vittorio Emmanuele, 7 August 1997 (directed by Dario Fo).
English production: National Theatre Youth project, Summer 1999.
Plot
An upright magistrate investigates a fire that has taken place at the local cathedral. Citizens of the town with particular interests attempt to blacken his name. A devil is instructed to enter his body via the anus to transform his personality - but instead enters the body of his housekeeper Ganossa. The magistrate duly falls for his housekeeper, and ends up being taken to court.
