Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School is an coeducational, non-semestered, Catholic high school in midtown Toronto. It was named after Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian educator, philosopher, and scholar—a professor of English literature, a literary critic, a rhetorician, a communication theorist, and a committed Roman Catholic.
History
Established in 1998, Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School opened its doors to the Catholic community in North Toronto and its surrounding areas. The school’s center focus is on the use of information and communication technology; thus, the school has been aptly named after Marshall McLuhan, a communication theorist who spent his life exploring media and communication in our culture. McLuhan lived in North Toronto and was an active member of the Holy Rosary parish, and has not only influenced the school culturally, but also religiously.
