Washim (also Basum) is the seat of administration of Washim District, in Maharashtra, India.

Washim is a newly formed district of Maharashtra.Washim has received status of district. It includes tehsils Risod,Malegaon,Mangrulpir,Karanja and the tribal Manora.

Washim which was also known as Vatsagulma was the seat of power during Vakataka dynasty.
