Bill Buchanan tells Karen Hayes that Jack Bauer is at the airport. The TAC team arrives at Buchanan's house. They demand to see Chloe O'Brian, but she has escaped. She arrives at a hotel and reports to Hayes. Chloe calls Jack about the air marshal that is on the plane and tells Jack his seat number. Jack takes the seat next to him, knocks him unconscious and impersonates him. He then knocks Henderson's agent unconscious.

Graham calls the President and asks him if Jack has been found yet. Martha Logan wants Mike Novick to get her medications. He then talks to the President and demands to know what has been going on. The President tells him that it is none of his business, but he then lies and tells Mike that there's trouble with his marriage.

Meanwhile, the air marshal regains consciousness and informs the air hostess that his gun is missing. Mike confronts Martha saying he suspects a cover-up, but she doesn't reveal anything.

The man who Jack attacked says he does not know anything about Henderson. The baggage compartment begins to depressurize on the air marshal's order, so Jack tells Chloe to patch him through to the pilot. Jack identifies himself to the pilot and tells him to restore air pressure to the baggage cabin, but the pilot refuses to do so. Jack pulls on several control wires which causes the plane to lose balance; the pilot then acquiesces to his demand. Jack orders everyone into the main cabin. He tells the pilot to maintain a holding pattern, so that he has enough time to look for the suspect. The pilot, however, refuses to do so.

The President tells Graham that Jack hijacked a diplomatic plane and tells him to apprehend Jack when the plane lands. Miles voices his concern about Karen to Mike, but Mike agrees with Hayes's actions. The President tells Hayes that Jack has to be taken down, dead or alive.

Chloe finds out that the co-pilot, Scott Evens, belongs to Omicron International, Henderson's firm. She tells Jack and patches him through to the pilot on a secure channel. Jack tells the pilot about the co-pilot, but he doesn't believe Jack. However, the pilot's suspicions are raised, and as he's about to leave the cockpit, the co-pilot assaults him with a flashlight. Jack is able to enter the cockpit, and after a brief struggle, he retrieves the recording from the co-pilot.

Martha appears to overdose on prescription drugs and calls Logan on the phone, and asks him why he did not go to her for help, but he tells her that he has to take another call; it is Graham, who tells the President to order the plane be shot down, since Jack now has the audio recording implicating the President in the day's events.
