Seyyed Mehdi Rahmati (Template:Lang-fa, born February 2, 1983 in Tehran, Iran)[2] is an Iranian football goalkeeper who currently plays for Esteghlal in Iran's Premier League football and the Iran national football team.

Club career

He was one of the most talented players found by Gholam Hossein Peyrovani in Fajr and like all the other youth players soon left the team heading for Sepahan but he had an unsuccessful season in this club and he moved to Esteghlal. although He had good performance in the Esteghlal squad, Vahid Talebloo showed better games and he proved himself as the number one keeper for Esteghlal so again he had to leave this club for Mes Kerman F.C. and there he played very well. He continued performing well in Mes Kerman F.C. and helped the club promote for the Asian Champions League and Persepolis F.C. showed some interest on him at least for the Asian Champions League. On July 14, 2009 Rahmati signed a two-year contract with Sepahan for an approximate sum of $450.000 turning down an offer from Norwegian giants Rosenborg BK.[3] Where he was the first choice keeper in the entire season and one of the important players that helped the club to win the league. He repeated the same with Sepahan in the next season. He joined Esteghlal in July 2011 where he won the Hazfi Cup in the first season. He extended his contract for another season on 18 June 2012.
