I have revamped a request for Paul Gilmartin's page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Paul_Gilmartin
I was wondering what process I would need to go through to get this published, as he has been in the public eye for 16 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cranialspasm (talk • contribs) 00:50, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- After reviewing your article again and doing some research of my own, it seems that this person fails the criteria set forth here for notability of entertainers. Unless you can find sources that prove otherwise, I'm afraid that your article is unlikely to be accepted. Topher385 (talk) 01:08, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for replying! I have a few questions/comments in regards to the Notability criteria for Wiki. "Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment" - Dinner and a Movie was on TBS from 1995-2011 and was played repeatedly during those 16 years. I thought that was prolific enough. All of his co-hosts have pages.
I'm also having difficulty understanding what totals are considered a 'significant "cult" following'. His personal account on twitter https://www.twitter.com/gilmartini has 1,847 followers His podcast account on twitter https://twitter.com/mentalpod has 2,769 followers His character account (for one of his regular sketch personas) https://twitter.com/OhioCongressman has 2,276 followers His podcast facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mentalpod has 1,168 likes His personal facebook account https://www.facebook.com/paul.gilmartin.543/info has 1,806 friends. Should he create a professional facebook page instead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cranialspasm (talk • contribs) 22:24, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- While his contributions to Dinner and a Movie are impressive and long-lived, I'm not sure I would consider that particularly prolific. However, that is my personal opinion so other editors might judge it differently. Also, having a few thousand twitter and facebook followers hardly gives him a cult following. Examples of a cult following might include such things as the movies Clockwork Orange or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I hope that helps. Topher385 (talk) 00:14, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
His podcast (The Mental Illness Happy Hour) gets 200,000 downloads a month. Does that help? http://mentalpod.libsyn.com/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cranialspasm (talk • contribs) 08:46, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to the ACC Team!
Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the account creation guide and our username policy thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts connect on Freenode, where you can get advice on handling requests, and you may also wish to subscribe to the mailing list, which is used for internal discussions between the account creation team. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension. I would like to emphasize that it is not a race to complete a request, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed" by the bot and "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM/ACC. Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my talk page if you have any questions. Thank you for your participating in the account creation process. Again, welcome! —Joshua Issac (talk) 21:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I NEED HELP!
Hi Topher385:
I have made changes and added secondary sources to Court Dunn Wikipedia article last week. However, the changes I have saved didn't seem to get sent to you. Please let me know if you have seen the recent changes, and if these sources are plausible enough to make it to Wikipedia. Thank you again. I look forward to hearing from you and receiving your guidance!
Flygirl121 (talk) 01:33, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, you added one more source that mentions him and a few scant details about him, but it still doesn't establish his notability. While most of your sources could be used to verify certain facts in your article, you will also need several independent sources that are about him and don't simply mention him in passing. These sources might include newspaper articles, magazine articles, books, etc. I hope that helps. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have anymore questions. songhor kolyai
Dear Editor: I request that you kindly reconsider the decision to decline publication of the submitted article. You have based your decision on the claim that an article already exists under the name Songhor. While I agree with this statement, Songhor-Kolyai does not currently exist. The information provided in the existing article under "Songhor" is incomplete at best and frankly inaccurate and misleading. For the sake of future users of this great public information resource, I strongly urge you to publish the submission Songhor-Kolyai. Best Regards, Nader Sinaii — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nsinai59 (talk • contribs) 01:44, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there and thanks for your contributions! It was actually another reviewer that declined it based on that reason, but I will try to explain anyway. It is clear that the subject of your article already exists here. The great part about Wikipedia is that you can improve the existing article without having to make another. In fact, that is preferred over creating new articles if one already exists. If you choose to improve the existing article, remember to use reliable sources. Once you find those, click that edit button and make Wikipedia better! Topher385 (talk) 00:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- With all due respect, Sonyghor-Kolyai does not currently exist in wikipedia. I spent a lot of time gathering sources after the inciteful feedback I received following my initial submission. At that time the editor requested sources and s/he made no mention of the topic already existing, because it did not and still does not. What you have under "songhor" is a collection of totally inacurate and misleading statements. I do not understand whay you recommend adding my well sourced contribution to an unrelated and unreliable article. I strongly believe that your that valued readers deserve better and will be well served if my article "Songhor=Kolyai" is added to the encyclopedia. Once again I respectfullt urge you to reconsider your decision. Best Regards,Nsinai59 (talk) 01:10, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Nader
- I understand your frustration, but as I said above, I was not the one who declined your article on that basis. The name of that reviewer was IceUnshattered. I might suggest taking up your concerns with him/her. Topher385 (talk) 01:16, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Review result for WT:Articles for creation/Automatic Reference Counting
I got your comment on my talk page, but you seem to have missed adding the result to the project page. (Sorry for the duplicate submission btw. I messed up) --Frederico1234 (talk) 05:42, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- It looks like I did. Maybe we're looking at different pages? Topher385 (talk) 00:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm looking at WT:Articles for creation/Automatic Reference Counting. It only has the results for the two earlier submissions. I expected a third to show up. --Frederico1234 (talk) 06:32, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Museo Provinciale di Torcello was declined by you in July. At that time, there was concern because some of the material seemed to be copy pasted from a source subject to copyright. The copyright owner attempted to provide a license, but did not write the first permission statement correctly. I suggested how it needed to be written, but my email received an automate response, not in English, that I believe was a message that the recipient was away, This morning, the person responded, and has provided a proper permissions statement for the source material. I'm sharing this with you in case it "dropped off your radar" due to the length of time without a response.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:21, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update!Topher385 (talk) 00:32, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
What is going on at Timothy Hahn. I see a number of refernces, many of which are dead, and the ones that are not, are talking about Eric Hutchinson--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:30, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- It looked like someone was arbitrarily changing information about the subject which is why I reverted the edits. However, I agree that is seems to be a copy/paste job after closer inspection and definitely support the AfD nomination as a result. Topher385 (talk) 00:38, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I wondered if I was missing something obvious (which happens more often than I care to admit.) But I searched a little more after posting to you, and became convinced.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 00:43, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Articles for Creation urgently needs YOUR help!
Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 1386 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.
If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions.
We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 2 or 3 reviews, it would be extremely beneficial. |

Invitation to comment at Monty Hall problem RfC
Because of your interest in dispute resolution,, I am inviting you to comment on the following RfC:
Talk:Monty Hall problem#Conditional or Simple solutions for the Monty Hall problem?
This dispute has been going on for over ten years and there have been over 1,300,000 words posted on the article talk page (by comparison, all of the Harry Potter books together total 1,084,170 words). Over the years the dispute has been through multiple noticeboards, mediators, and even the Arbitration Committee without resolving the conflict, so a lot of wisdom is needed here. --Guy Macon (talk) 00:58, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Heather Dawn Bright page
Hi,
I couldn't find your comments section as to why this page keeps getting declined? Although I'm not sure if it is declined because i can pull it up online?
Also, when i pull it up online, it has this notification box that says "This biographical article needs additional citations for verification. Please help by adding reliable sources. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful. (August 2012)"
Can you please tell me which specific parts need additional citations so i can get that box removed? I feel like we did a good job providing enough (legitimate) sources, especially for her discography. And i've researched a couple wiki pages that have been approved and they also have the same amount of citations even in the background/early career/personal life sections such as the following wiki pages:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makeba_Riddick http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_McKee
Please advise, thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smacint (talk • contribs) 00:54, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Article for Laurence Kirwan
Hi, I have reviewed your comments and don't agree with your comments that this is not notable person. Please could you revise your review and perhaps let me know what need to be edited. I have seen so many article which posted about people nowhere near to the person in my article. Please don't take me wrong but I also noticed that you decline most articles. Dispute resolution volunteer survey
Dispute Resolution – Volunteer Survey Invite Hello Topher385. To follow up on the first survey in April, I am conducting a second survey to learn more about dispute resolution volunteers - their motivations for resolving disputes, the experiences they've had, and their ideas for the future. I would appreciate your thoughts. I hope that with the results of this survey, we will learn how to increase the amount of active, engaged volunteers, and further improve dispute resolution processes. The survey takes around five to ten minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released. Please click HERE to participate. You are receiving this invitation because you have either listed yourself as a volunteer at a dispute resolution forum, or are a member of a dispute resolution committee. For more information, please see the page that describes my fellowship work which can be found here. Szhang (WMF) (talk) 02:46, 29 November 2012 (UTC) |
