Mass moves of Korean articles
We have a set of established naming conventions for Korean geographic articles: Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(Korean)#Place_names. Not all articles follow them, and it should be uncontroversial to make moves where the new name is consistent with the naming conventions. However, many of your recent moves go in the opposite direction. Please stop (for now) and discuss these. Conventions aren't set in stone, and they can change, but you need to get a consensus before making mass changes. You might take it up at the Korean naming conventions talk page. --Amble (talk) 20:11, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- I also note that when you're making the same change to the naming of a large number of articles, that seriously weakens the justification "for consistency with other articles". --Amble (talk) 20:14, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for visiting my user talk. I did read Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(Korean)#Place_names through your note. Why are mountains and rivers different? I will propose one for consistency at the Korean naming conventions talk page. Sawol (talk) 02:59, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Translating Korean names is always challenging. The current convention tries to balance correctness, consistency with common usage, and clarity. But of course, it's still (necessarily) somewhat arbitrary. I'll look forward to your new proposal at the naming conventions page. Thanks. --Amble (talk) 03:15, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Romanization in templates
Hey! I noticed you've been going through a number of articles about subway stations and whatnot to add the {{Korean name}} template. I'm going through after you and adding the romanization for now, but if you could give me a list of the hangŭl for all the ones you plan on adding it to, I can write all the romanizations for you now and save some time, hm? (Articles missing one or both romanizations get added to a category for articles that are missing them, which is how I found them in the first place.) dalahäst (let's talk!) 06:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- But use {{Infobox station}} which has those same Korean parameters - just for you. See Bangogae Station for and example. Sw2nd (talk) 07:22, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Gyejoksan
A tag has been placed on Gyejoksan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for November 13
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gwangju Foreign School, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Buk-gu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Decline of your speedy tags
Hi Sawol. I have declined several WP:G1 speedy tags that you placed on pages, marking them as "nonsense." Please note that G1 is for "Pages consisting entirely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history." Legitimate disambiguation pages or alternative spelling redirects are not nonsense and do mot qualify for that tag. I suggest you review the Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion before placing further speedy deletion tags. Thanks. — CactusWriter (talk) 18:09, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Moves of South and North Korean articles
Do you have support for these moves? I see no discussion on the project page. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:50, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- As for the Suncheon/Sunchon redirects, I have restored (again) back to admin Nyttend's version again, please discuss with User:Nyttend and please see WP:3RR. Thanks. I don't necessarily disagree, but this isn't the way to make changes. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:59, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- No comments on any other pages, but I've moved Kijŏng-dong to Kijong-dong because of the successful requested move. Thanks for following normal procedure; if there are any other backlogged RMs that you'd like to be closed, let me know. Nyttend (talk) 15:42, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
Yeongi-Gongju
Hi, Sawol. I turned Yeongi-Gongju from a "disambiguation" page (which it wasn't, as you noted) into a geo stub. I've left the prod tag though; take a look and see what you think about keeping it. Cheers! -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:54, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- The term 'Yeongi-Gongju' do not exist. Just adjacent places are stated. I think it must be deleted. Sawol (talk) 06:47, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- But the term does exist, including in the citations I added to the article. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:00, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Page moves
Please stop adding inappropriate tags to pages you want moved. You have already taken it to AfD. Leave it until that is concluded. Then take it to the proper place, which is WP:RM. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:26, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- We have concluded. You make the process difficult. Sawol (talk) 13:21, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- No, the AfD is still going on. It's not difficult at all. I agree that the version without the diacritics should be the one we use, but you have complicated matters by taking it to AfD in the first place. It didn't need this. -- Necrothesp (talk) 18:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Mass page moves without consensus
Yikes, look at your edit history! In some (not all) of the moves, you cite a discussion in which you received zero with one related reply, yet you are performing the moves and implying there is some sort of consensus? What is more, you are moving pages at a very fast pace, performance more indicative of an unauthorized bot than an editor. Based on the talk page history above, this is not by a long shot the first time this problem has come up. Please slow down and seek actual consensus for actions like this. If it happens again, I will pursue a community ban prohibiting you from moving pages and similar mass actions. VQuakr (talk) 07:40, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean)#Counties in North Korea, Talk:Sinyang County. Sawol (talk) 07:43, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- I see slightly misstated the state of the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean), so I have struck and modified part of my last post. There still is clearly not a consensus there, so my actual point of using that as justification for mass moves still stands. I do not see the relevance of Talk:Sinyang County; it is an open discussion so it certainly should not be used as justification for any page moves. Slow down! There is not deadline. ANI Notification
Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Hasty page moves and edits by User:Sawol. Thank you. VQuakr (talk) 08:24, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
Disruption
It is clear you do not understand Wikipedia procedures. Until you do, may I suggest you stop moving articles and removing notices. Stick to simple editing. Other editors have tried to give you advice, but you just continue to ignore it and go on your merry way. This is not productive and will not make you popular. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:19, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- At this point, it should be clear Sawol that you need to listen and work with others. As you have indicated you now understand this, I've closed the ANI discussion without taking any action. We are here to learn, cooperate and build and encyclopedia together. In the future, when someone advise you that you are acting against policy, I suggest you stop and ask them about it instead of continuing forward. This will prevent new issues.
