Pacific Dawn note to be confused with 'Dawn Princess' in the the US-based Princess Cruises' fleet.
Pacific Dawn, (presently sailing as Regal Princess in the US-based Princess Cruises’ fleet), is a future Australian cruise ship to be operated by P&O Cruises Australia in October 2007. Pacific Dawn will begin sailing from Sydney on it's eight-night maiden voyage on October 26, 2007. It will then offer a selection of cruises to the South Pacific, including Christmas and New Year departures, plus a Melbourne Cup cruise.
The elegant 70,000-ton ship, marketed as "the largest and most modern ship to call Australia home" will introduce many new features to the Australian cruise market, including an abundance of affordable private balcony cabins. The reason for introducing this ship comes after the absense of Pacific Sky, a loved but much troubled ship that was recently sold to a Spanish company, Pullmantur Cruises (May 2005). Her new owners will be renaming it the "Sky Wonder" and will base it in Europe.
