Most service employees in Mexico do not make very much money at all. Their minimum wage is quite low. Some employees do not even earn a wage at all, so the tips they make is the majority of their income. The tipping guide in Mexico, is usually known to be the same guide as in the United States and Canada. You’ll find a chart below to help you convert US Dollars to Pesos. This will make it easier to understand what your bill is and what you want to tip. Please note that these rates are as of 5/24/2013 and they are subject to change.
