<!-- This will add a notice to the bottom of the page and won't blank it! The new template which says that your draft is waiting for a review will appear at the bottom; simply ignore the old (grey) drafted templates and the old (red) decline templates. A bot will update your article submission. Until then, please don't change anything in this text box and press "Save page". --> |

<!-- Just press the "Save page" button below without changing anything! Doing so will submit your article submission for review. Once you have saved this page you will find a new yellow 'Review waiting' box at the bottom of your submission page. If you have submitted your page previously, the old pink 'Submission declined' template or the old grey 'Draft' template will still appear at the top of your submission page, but you should ignore them. Again, please don't change anything in this text box. Just press the "Save page" button below. --> |

- Comment: I really don't understand this. While the references are good, I don't understand a lot of this and don't see any evidence of notability. Nathan2055talk - contribs 18:57, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Droidcon is the franchise name for a series of commercial conferences in Europe, focused on software development for Google's Android smartphone framework. The Droidcon conferences [1],[2] are the largest Android developer conferences held outside the USA. Droidcon conferences are notable for their unique developer-led organization. The conferences open with a "bar-camp" - 5 minute presentations on topics by would-be speakers. The audience votes on presentations that they'd like to see in expanded form, and these are scheduled for later in the event.
Droidcon [3] arose to fill the gap that Google left through providing little developer support beyond a website. Droidcon started in 2008 in Berlin, as a grass roots effort organized by developers themselves. By 2012, Droidcon events were being held annually in Berlin [4], London[5], Tunis[6], Bangalore[7], Romania[8], Amsterdam[9], and Murcia (Spain)[10]. The two biggest Droidcon events held so far were in London in 2012 and Berlin in 2013, with about 1000 attendees each. The conferences continue to grow in size, and in new locations (Droidcon Bucharest [11] being the latest addition).
Droidcon provides a forum for developers to network with other developers, to share techniques[12], to announce apps and products[13], [14], and to learn[15],[16] and teach.
In 2010, Lucasfilm claimed the rights to the word "droid" based on its "star wars" franchise, and issued a "cease and desist" writ against Droidcon.[17]
