The ATX was a 3-speed automatic transaxle produced by Ford Motor Company from 1981 through 1994. The ATX was updated for the Ford Escort in 1991 and is called the 4F27E and is now electronic and has a 4 speed overdrive. A seocond version of the ATX came out in 1995 and is called the CD4E which is also electronic and has a fourth speed overdrive.
