Paul Faussier was a French sports journalist who, towards the end of the nineteenth century, became editor of Le Vélocipède illustré (Bicycle Illustrated), an early French cycling interest periodical. Faussier was also a member of Company Vélocipédique Metropolitan (Metropolitan Vélocipéde Company).[1][2]
In 1887 Faussier arranged, what is regarded by some experts to be, the world's first organised motor sport event. The event was a drive along the bank of the River Seine in Paris from Pont de Neuilly to [[]], and back, a distance of about 2 kilometres. George Bouton, the one and only entrant, successfully completed the course.[3]
