It was established for welfere of the students who couldn't attempt collage in cities, by govt. Of Punjab. It provides the students a wide range of bachelor programs such as B.A. , Bca, B.com (ragular or professional), B.sc (medical, non-medical, information technology computer science and fashion designing) and B.b.a. along with master programs such as M.a. Punjabi, M.com, M.sc it etc. It is situated on Talwandi to Kapurthala road, near village that is called mithra, that's why it's called mithra collage. It consists of different departments (department of science, comerce, information technology and department of arts and social sciences) . Department of arts and social sciences is running under Head of department Dr. Parwinder singh (PH.D). Dr. Daljit singh kheira is current principal of collage.
