Rodina (Родина = Homeland)) is an Russian political thriller television series developed by Pavel Lungin and Timur Weinstein[1] based on the Israeli series Hatufim, which was created by Gideon Raff, and based on the American adaptation Homeland by Howard Gordon.

The series stars Viktoria Isakova as Anna Zimina, a Federal Security Service officer with bipolar disorder, and Vladimir Mashkov as Alexey Bragin, a Russian Marine Corps Sniper. Anna had come to believe that Alexey, who was held captive by Chechen terrorists as a prisoner of war, was "turned" by the enemy and threatened the Russian Federation.

Overview

The series begins in 1993. Marine Corps Colonel Alexey Bragin and the Sniper Yuri Khamzin missing during military operation of the federal forces in the North Caucasus.

Six years later, during a joint special operation of FSB's Alpha Force and Spetsnaz GRU in the North Caucasus, terrorist training camps were destroyed; while the soldiers captured the bunker, they found chained to the wall and overgrown beard colonel Alexey Bragin.
