Shy, Low is an American post-rock band from Richmond, Virginia. The band is composed of two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer as well as additional percussion for live sets.

Band members

Shy, Low is a quartet, consisting of Gregg Peterson and Zakaree Bryant on electric guitar, Ian Currie on bass guitar, and Sean Doody on drums.[1]

History

The band was formed in January 2011 after the break up of the band VESSEL. Their style shifted from heavy rock of VESSEL to the post-rock theme of Shy, Low.

After spending several months writing after the break up of VESSEL, Shy, Low recorded their six song debut with Allen Bergendahl of Viking Recording in May of 2011 in Richmond, Virginia.[2] Upon the completion of the album's recording, the band embarked on their first tour.[3]

In September 2011, Shy, Low was signed by indie music label Fluttery Records that released the band's debut self-titled album on January 20, 2012.[4] On May 22, 2013, it was announced that Shy, Low had signed with Seattle based record label, Spartan Records. Spartan Records released the band's second record, Binary Opposition, on June 25, 2013 on limited edition colored marble vinyl as well as digitally.[5] The record also featured a previously unreleased bonus track, "Voyager."[6] After the release Shy, Low went on a second tour in the Eastern United States. Due to selling out the vinyl Spartan Records began a second pressing of the vinyl in 2014.[7]
