This book seems to mention warp zones a lot, but there isn't a preview available of most of tose pages. Does anyone own this book? Since this is an article about Warp Zones, and there is a picture of the SMB warp zones, shouldn't there be a section about where the warp zones are in the games, or how to find them? Or would that be fan cruft or whatever, and not needed on this article. 64.132.172.213 17:48, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For future reference, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate source of information. More specifically, Wikipedia is not a game guide, but an encyclopedia. We should try to define what warp zones are, how they work in broad terms, why they exists and most importantly (the part most people seem to forget), what their reception and impact is. We shouldn't give any examples of warp zones unless they aid in explaining this, and we should not give any more information then necessary to explain this. Someone who wants to know what warp zones are doesn't want to know "how to get to them in that one game" or even "how they work in that one game," unless if it's vital information to understand warps in general. What we need

Right now, what is needed is some source stating the first usage of warp zones (I have seen somewhere that MUDs might be it, but I sadly forgot where I read that) and what game popularized it (probably Super Mario Bros., but we need a source for that). Other than that, we obviously need sources for the Unreal section. Even primary sources would suffice, but I have only been able to find wiki's and user-generated guides. Nothing published.
