Green Box Links to Barnstars, Archives, Other Stuff

ON A LONG WIKIBREAK! YAY!!
I'll be back.
Insulting, harassing and sexist comments will be removed by policy-complying editors. And remember:

Well-behaved women (and people of color) seldom make history.
This user wants to see everything in its place.

Last of the Mohicans

The Working Man's Barnstar
For being the "Last of the Mohicans"--one of the few women who has not been driven off the Gender Gap Task Force or the GGTF ArbCom case.

Hi, Carolmooredc. I have seen this rather amusing barnstar floating around and cannot think of anyone who deserves it more than you do. You have continued to Assume Good Faith, and have patiently answered even the most hostile statements, long after anyone else would have lost patience and concluded that they were being trolled. Just for the record, this is no longer a gender-specific barnstar, but the irony of the original version is just too perfect. Regards, —Neotarf (talk) 13:50, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I actually looked up WP:NOTSUICIDE and I don't get it. As I asked at talk "Does it mean we can kick obvious trolls butts? Or that we should quit rather than commit suicide?" Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 13:56, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, ha, enjoy. —Neotarf (talk) 15:01, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Back at ya! But you know my definition of feminist: any woman who doesn't take any bull in any part of her life. So that's most of 3.6 billion women on the planet :-) Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 23:55, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kittens and puppies for helpful and friendly editors

Don't have energy to post separately. These are for those who have seen through the nonsense of the last six months, whether or not you have yet chosen to speak out.

Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 15:24, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also feel free to delete any of those negative/nasty/harassing comments I always get if anyone leaves them here, since I probably won't be allowed to.

Your return is eagerly awaited !!!!

Loved the kittens !!! Lots of people eagerly await your return. IMO, you are getting the rough treatment because they were powerless to protect you from those out to harass you. So, they cover their own weakness in this way. What other option do they have ? In a way, I approve that you should leave, rather than suffer for contributing in a community which failed you with its inability to stop the harassers. Being a glass half-filled optimist, I see reform as inevitable, even if I retire to my jacuzzi and my polo matches. Right... Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 15:27, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Reform is inevitable. It is just a question of how many people must suffer, and be scapegoated/sacrificed like you, before the community comes to its senses.OrangesRyellow (talk) 15:50, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, gives me yet another idea. A quickie video like on Talking Dead with the names of "this decades departed" scrolling by to dirge music with faded death masks as background. Of course, I'm sure there were a few who really did deserve it. I even supported one myself once! Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 16:23, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
Please accept this barnstar in recognition of your attempts to change the current culture of Wikipedia. I hope you return with a renewed passion for the project and keep your sense of humour. In the meantime, do take a look at other open knowledge projects, there are plenty that deliver excellent worthwhile outcomes, not only encyclopaedias. Commons, for example, has far less self-feeding dramah and far fewer wikilawyers. (talk) 17:22, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you for the adorable kittens! I may have a dog now but I grew up a cat person and I still love them.

I wish things had worked out differently. I hope to see you back as soon as possible. Until then, may your days be filled with relaxation, happiness, and kittens. Ca2james (talk) 17:23, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Guess Wikipedia needs a wikilove puppy lobby! Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 22:49, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A pie for you!

Many thanks for the adorable kitten you delivered to my talk page. I have used it as an ingredient in this delicious hot meat pie; please have a slice and take a moment to savour the taste and enjoy simpler pleasures. (Or, if vegetarian pies are preferred, you could leave this one for meat-eating friends.) I hope to see you back on Wikipedia sooner rather than later. Gender equality here needs all the help it can get - not to mention civility, neutrality, and other oft-ignored principles. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:54, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
One more. I am so sorry, Carol. Best wishes to you. --GRuban (talk) 01:16, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kitten

Thank you for the kitten, which I will move to my user page. If you mean that Wikipedia was dragging you in and that the ArbCom case is letting you try something else in your retirement, so be it. But if you choose to come back after your time is served, you won't be a septuagenarian, but still a sexagenarian. I can do the arithmetic as well as you can, except that I don't have to do the arithmetic, because I'm a '48er also. I'm not that far from you either in time or in space (only, evidently, in gender). My sympathies or something.

I suppose that, as a libertarian, you have very mixed feelings about the late Mr. Barry. What ward are you in? Robert McClenon (talk) 02:48, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Onward and upward and all that. I'm in ward 5. Met Barry in 1988 and he was definitely a charismatic figure. Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 04:44, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kitten (2)

I will do my best. Enjoy your Wikibreak. --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 15:31, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck

Good luck Carol. I entirely agree with Tarc's remark. I look forward to your return. -- C1cada (talk) 23:25, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. Editors topic banned by the Committee under this remedy are prohibited on the English Wikipedia from: (i) editing the pages of the Gender Gap Task Force; (ii) discussing the gender disparity among Wikipedians; and (iii) participating in any process broadly construed to do with these topics. An uninvolved admin may remove any comments that breach this remedy, and impose blocks as necessary. The Committee's standard provisions on enforcement of arbitration provisions and appeals and modifications of arbitration enforcements apply.
  2. Carolmooredc (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is indefinitely topic banned from the Gender gap topic.
  3. For her actions discussed in this case, Carolmooredc is indefinitely banned from the English Language Wikipedia. She may request reconsideration of the ban twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  4. Eric Corbett (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is indefinitely topic banned from the Gender gap topic.
  5. Eric Corbett agrees to a restriction prohibiting him from shouting at, swearing at, insulting and/or belittling other editors. The restriction comes into immediate effect on the passing of this motion.

If Eric Corbett finds himself tempted to engage in prohibited conduct, he is to disengage and either let the matter drop or refer it to another editor to resolve.

If however, in the opinion of an uninvolved administrator, Eric Corbett does engage in prohibited conduct, he may be blocked. The first two such blocks shall be of 72 hours duration, increasing thereafter for each subsequent breach to one week, one month, and three months. Any blocks under this provision are arbitration enforcement actions and may only be reviewed or appealed at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. Should a fifth block (three months) prove necessary, the blocking administrator must notify the Arbitration Committee of the block via a Request for Clarification and Amendment so that the remedy may be reviewed.

The enforcing administrator may also at their discretion fully protect Eric Corbett's talk page for the duration of the block.

Nothing in this remedy prevents enforcement of policy by uninvolved administrators in the usual way.

  6. Neotarf (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is indefinitely topic banned from the Gender gap topic. Neotarf is also warned that complaints about usernames should be made through appropriate channels and that further accusations, as well as unnecessary antagonism, may result in sanctions.
  7. For their actions discussed in this case, and in particular for adopting a consistently hostile attitude to other contributors, Neotarf is indefinitely banned from the English Wikipedia. They may request reconsideration of the ban twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  8. Sitush (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is warned not to create articles regarding editors he is in dispute with.
  9. Sitush and Carolmooredc are indefinitely prohibited from interacting with, or commenting on, each other anywhere on Wikipedia (subject to the ordinary exceptions).
  10. SPECIFICO (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)'s actions regarding Carolmooredc have led to a 1-way interaction ban imposed by the community following a noticeboard discussion. [1]
  11. Two kinds of pork (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is indefinitely topic banned from the Gender gap topic.
  12. Standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for pages relating to the Gender gap task force. The availability of sanctions is not intended to prevent free and candid discussion on these pages, but sanctions should be imposed if an editor severely or persistently disrupts the discussion.
