The Cascadia Summit was a club football (soccer) competition featuring football club teams from North America, which was held in March 2011.
History
"With ourselves and Portland joining Seattle in MLS, this Summit is a great opportunity to usher in a new era for professional soccer in the Pacific Northwest."
Based on the Cascadia Cup, the Cascadia Summit will be a pre-season tournament between the Major League Soccer teams in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The three main clubs will also take part in the Cascadia Cup, an annual cup rivalry between Major League Soccer (MLS) teams named after their markets' North American Soccer League (NASL) predecessors. The Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps rivalry dates back to the NASL days.
Teams
The following five clubs will participate in the 2011 tournament:[2]
- Seattle Sounders from the United States of America
- Seattle Sounders FC Academy from the United States of America
- Portland Timbers from the United States of America
- Vancouver Whitecaps from Canada
