A teenage boy plays video games indoors behind blind covered windows, when his mother arrives with a box. She opens the blinds and puts the box on the coffee table in front of him, saying it contains a present for him. Soon after his mother goes upstairs answering a phone call, he opens the box, revealing a happy puppy. The boy is initially pleased with the present, but when he sees the puppy lacks his left front leg, he kicks the animal away in disgust and returns to his video games. Unperturbed, the puppy clumsily finds a red rubber ball below a cabinet and starts urging the boy to play with him. The boy does his best to ignore the little dog, but finally gives in and goes outside to play fetch with his puppy. He walks with crutches and is missing the lower part of his left leg.
