Nivin Pauly (born 11 October 1984)[1] is an Indian film actor and producer best known for his work in Malayalam cinema.[2]
Nivin applied for the audition of Vineeth Sreenivasan's directional debut Malarvaadi Arts Club in 2009, and was selected to play the main role. Malarvaadi Arts Club produced by actor Dileep released on July 2010. After playing several small roles and cameo roles, Nivin got his breakthrough with his role in Thattathin Marayathu (2012) which was also directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan.[3][4] Later, he went on to act in successful films including Neram (2013), 1983 (2014), Ohm Shanthi Oshaana (2014), Bangalore Days (2014), Oru Vadakkan Selfie (2015), Premam (2015), and Action Hero Biju (2016).[5][6] Nivin made his debut as a producer with the film Action Hero Biju under his production company Pauly Jr. Pictures, which also starred him in the title role.[7]
Nivin received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his Tamil debut Neram (2013).[8] In 2015, Nivin Pauly received the 45th Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performances in Bangalore Days and 1983.[9][10]

Nivin was employed at Infosys in Bangalore from 2006 to 2008. However, he resigned and came back home after his father's death.[13][14]
Nivin and Rinna Joy were classmates at FISAT. He married Rinna Joy on 28 August 2010 at St. Dominic Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in Aluva, Ernakulam.[15][16]They have a son born in 2012.[17]
Acting career
Nivin applied for the audition of Malarvaadi Arts Club, but was not included in the 12 shortlisted actors. However, when one dropped out, he was given a second chance to the audition, and got his debut role.[12][14] Since then, he had acted in the films The Metro and Sevenes, and brief appearances in Traffic and Spanish Masala. He appeared in music video Nenjodu Cherthu from the album Yuvvh, what The Hindu called "a hugely popular" ,[14] which became a viral hit on YouTube.[18] The 2012 film Thattathin Marayathu was his acting vehicle[13][19] which became the biggest hit of the year.[20][21] After Thattathin Marayathu he was called "the current youth sensation"[19] and "hot property".[13] He received offers from directors including Sathyan Anthikad, Rajesh Pillai, Aashiq Abu and Shyamaprasad.[22] Nivin made his debut in Tamil with the bi-lingual film Neram.[20] His other Malayalam films in 2013 includes Anju Sundarikal and Sunil Ibrahim's Arikil Oraal. In 2014 he appeared in Abrid Shine's directorial debut, 1983 where he played the role of Rameshan. Followed with debutant Jude Anthany Joseph's Ohm Shanthi Oshaana was a romantic comedy in which he portrayed the role Giri, which released a week after 1983. His next release Bangalore Days was directed by Anjali Menon. In the same year, he played a cameo role in the Lal Jose film Vikramadithyan. In 2015, Nivin appeared in Mili, Oru Vadakkan Selfie and Ivide . He then acted in Premam where he played the role of George David. It went on to become one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies. It grossed over 60 crore.[23] After the release of Premam, Nivin Pauly was described as the next Mohanlal in the social medias and got a "superstar" tag.[24][25]
