The LVOA-C (manufactured by War Sport Industries) is a direct gas-impingement (DGI) operated assault rifle based on the AR-15 platform. It features a proprietary barrel shroud with an integrated muzzle brake/flash suppressor which serves its intended manufacturing purpose to be a close quarter combat weapon with a low visibility operation application (LVOA). The assault rifle features both chamber options of 5.56X45mm NATO rounds and .223 Wylde.
The LVOA-C displays a weight of 7 lbs. unloaded (7 1/2 lbs. with a 30 rounds magazine) and measures 35 1/2 in. in length (32 3/4 in. with a closed stock)[1]. It has been widely used in private military companies (PMC) operations OCONUS (overseas) and CONUS (state wise) for its reliability, low recoil and visual signature.
History
The LVOA-C is a direct reflection of its manufacturer goals and fields of application. War Sport Industries, an established force in military textile and ammunition manufacturing developed its new revised assault rifle to support "Low Visibility Operation / Applications for the modern war fighter."[2] in an effort to provide a relevant response to the current unconventional warfare requiring high mobility, low visibility in confined environments. Private security contractors such as Triple Canopy and GRS[3] adopted the LVOA-C as their main operational weapon in sensitive matters.
