Plot

Barney summons Ted to his apartment to administer the "Broath", swearing him to secrecy about what Quinn does for a living, but Ted tells the rest of the group. Lily tells the group they need to break up Barney and Quinn after learning of their plan to move in together and stage a "Quinn-tervention". Quinn breaks up with Barney, saying if he has to lie about her job, she can't be with him. Barney swears the group to a Broath not to interfere with his life unless over a matter of health, national security or hooking up with a fattie. After getting both Lily & Robin and Marshall & Ted to kiss, Quinn reveals it to be a hoax she cooked up with Barney to keep the gang from judging her.

Robin and Ted fight over who deserves to sublet Quinn's apartment since she is moving in with Barney. In an argument regarding who deserves the apartment more, Robin reveals to Ted that what happened between them has hurt her as well, and that she suspects that she's likely to be fired at a meeting with her boss. She asks him if they could ever go back to normal, but he admits that he could not. Following Robin's meeting, Robin and Ted regroup at MacLaren's. Robin tells Ted that because of her impressive coverage of the New Year's Eve ceremony in Tailgate for World Wide News, she has been made a co-anchor alongside Sandy Rivers. With her new raise, she's moving into a new apartment on Central Park West, leaving Quinn's apartment for Ted. Ted tells Robin that he can do "normal," and they toast. After a rather long, awkward silence, Robin excuses herself. Future Ted reveals that, after that incident, it would be a very long time before he and Robin saw each other again; the new co-anchor job would also boost her career.

While Barney and Quinn are talking, the issue of Quinn being a stripper comes up. Barney tells her that he's okay with her stripping, but notes that he'd be okay with her switching careers and pressing for what it "hypothetically" would take for her to stop stripping. Quinn responds that "Hypothetically, I would stop stripping if I ever got married".
