Labipur (a village) (Template:Lang-ne) is a Tharu village located in the Itahari sub-metropolitan city of Sunsari District in the Koshi Zone of south-eastern Nepal.[1]
Labipur was previously included in the village development committee known as Hansposha.[2] In 2014, the Government of Nepal announced an initiative to allow for further establishments of sub-metropolitan cities, which included the re-designation of Itahari as a sub-metropolitan city. As a part of the re-designation, Labipur became a part of Itahari. Labipur is growing rapidly and has already transformed into a large city.
Labipur chowk is the main bazar area of Labipur located in East-west Highway.[3]
People gather weekly at the village market known as Labipur Hatiya. People buy and sell goods from villagers and sellers. The majority of Tharu people are involved in farming. Agriculture is the main source of income for Tharu villagers.
Agriculture has been practiced by Tharu villagers from the era of ancestors which has been passed from generation to generation. Agriculture is the main economic motivator behind the formation of this Tharu village.
