Nancy Zerg is the Los Angeles real estate agent who, on November 30, 2004, beat Jeopardy! titan Ken Jennings in his 75th appearance on the trivia game show. She is a former actress who currently lives in Ventura, California. She has an adopted Chinese daughter.
In Nancy Zerg's first appearance she defeated Ken Jennings by correctly answering the Final Jeopardy category. The clue was: Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year. Her answer was: What is H&R Block? A wager of $4,401 added to her beginning total of $10,000 amounted to $14,401, pushing her $1 above Jennings' total prior to Final Jeopardy; however, Jennings' incorrect answer in Final Jeopardy left him with only $8,799. Ken incorrectly responded with "What is FedEx?", thus ending his 74 day streak. Nancy wore a bright red blouse that may have distracted him.
