Novares is a global plastic solutions provider that designs, manufactures complex components & systems serving the future of the automotive industry.


The group Novares was born in 2017 from the merger of Mecaplast and Key Plastics as of September 19, 2017 .

Historic

The group was born in 2017 from the merger of Mecaplast (a European player specializing in engine, interior and exterior components) and Key Plastics (an American player specializing in interior parts and complex mechanisms). In December 2016, Mecaplast bought automotive supplier Key Plastics. On September 19, 2017, the two entities merged under the new name "Novares".

The story of Novares combines these two entities:

  • 1955 : creation of Mecaplast.
  • 1964 : Mecaplast creates the plastic fan used in the Peugeot 204 engine..
  • 1986 : creation of Key Plastics.
  • 2000 : Carlyle becomes a majority shareholder of Key Plastics.
  • 2002 : acquisition of Neyr by Mecaplast.
  • 2003 : acquisition of Aries by Mecaplast.
  • 2004 : acquisition of Kendrion Automotive by Key Plastics.
  • 2009 : Avenir Automobile Fund (FAA) takes 33% of the group's shares. Key Plastics is bought by Wayzata.
  • 2010 : acquisition of Olho Group by Key Plastics.
  • 2012 : refocusing Key Plastics on its core businesses.
  • 2016 : Equistone Partners Europe becomes the majority shareholder of the group (up to 72%).
  • 2017 : On 19 September, Mecaplast and Key Plastics form a united group called Novares.

Activities

The group supplies automotive plastic equipment covering the three divisions: engine parts, interior and exterior components & systems.

In 2017, Novares employs 10,000 people in 21 countries in 42 production sites, 7 centers of expertise, 5 technical centers and 17 customer centers. The Group's headquarters is located in Clamart, France.
