Ture i Berg was a sculptor who lived from 1896 to 1984.
Background
Ture i Berg, his real name was Ture Alfredsson, lived from 1896 until 1984. He lived on a little farm with his sister Gunborg in Gängene, Sillerud, Sweden. On the small estate they had cows, horses and sheep. Alfredsson was a sculptor who made things from trash, stones and wood. His most famous sculpture is a horse with it´s body made of a wooden barrel, head and four legs made of trees, and a tail made of bundle. There is a copy of the horse, you can see it in Svensbyn, Sillerud.[1]
Biography
Alfredsson was a lonesome man who lived in an area which was very unpopulated and he was a little bit of a hermit. When he was 67 years old he retired and had nothing to do.[1]
As a retiree he looked around and saw things like stones, trash and barbed wire. Alfredsson thought they might be useful, and he used everything he could get hold and use of. Everything could be art according to Alfredsson.[1]
The sculptur is known for his imagination. His art expresses his feelings for animals and people. But his relationship to women was dysfunctional his whole life, in his art men and women never did something, or shared moments, together. If men and women were exhibited together, then the piece of art often showed struggle between them. Alfredsson's strange way was one of the reasons why he was concidered to be eccentric.[1]
Alfredsson made around thirty sculptures which you can see everywhere close where he lived and its sorroundings. All of are of a natural sizes. Some examples are groups of working farmers, or wind weels, animals in several sizes and a coffee table with artificial tulips. In the middle of all the sculptures there is a watchtower were you can see all the sculptures.[1]
