Template:Breakdancing moves A Freeze is a breakdancing technique that involves halting all body motion, often in an interesting or balance-intensive position. Spins are often combined with freezes, and one philospohy of performing kicks is that they should be held frozen as long as possible. Various handstands ("inverts") can be frozen, and skilled breakers sometimes incorporate the technique of threading into handstands by forming a loop with one arm and leg, then "threading" the other leg in and out of the loop.

Variants

  • Baby Freeze - The head and both hands are used for balance, with the nearest side of your waist on one elbow and a knee on the other, sometimes swapping leg placement.
  • Turtle Freeze - Both ams are bent in front of the chest with the elbows stabbing into either the abs or surrounding area. All the weight is placed onto the hands and the rest of the body is suspended above the ground
  • Hanglide Freeze - Similar to the Turtle freeze, except only one elbow is stabbed into the abs, the other is out to the side of the body and is either placed on the ground or held above it.
  • Headstand - A freeze while standing on the head, with or without hands on the floor for support.
    • Head Invert - A headstand while you lean back.
  • Airbaby - A one handed handstand with the knee resting on the elbow of the supporting arm.
    • 2-handed Airbaby - An airbaby with 2 hands on the ground.
  • Chair - A freeze while you're laying down arched to the floor with your arm in the middle supporting the body.
    • Airchair - A Chair freeze without your head or feet on the floor, usually facing the ceiling and has room for many leg variations.
  • Side Freeze - The body is balanced on the right hand, with the right triceps flat against the body and right side held parallel to floor.
  • Hollowback - A more difficult freeze. It is basically a bridge with feet not touching the floor. There are many variations performed from a handstand, headstand, or on the elbows.
    • Invert - Short for inverted hollowback, it is a freeze in hollowback position with the lower body bent towards the head.
  • One-handed handstands - Variations of the handstand, on one hand. Variations of one-handed handstands include different positions of legs (bending or straightening and pointing in different directions) and free hand
  • Shoulder Freeze - A freeze using your shoulder, head and hand. Legs are in the air, usually in a Nike pose.
  • Forearm Freeze - A freeze where one forearm is used to support the body. Similar to the one-handed handstand.
  • Elbow Freeze - A freeze done on the elbow/s.
