8°59′59″N 77°19′52″E / 8.99972°N 77.33111°E / 8.99972; 77.33111 Agarakattu is a remote village in the foothills of the Western Ghats, between Tenkasi and Ayikudi, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Agarakattu is 3 km north of Tenkasi and 2 km east of the Tenkasi-Madurai State Highway. The nearest popular train stations are in Tenkasi and Tirunelveli. The Tamilnadu State HIGHWAYS from Shencottai to Pavoorchatram is called as SH-39 A" is passing through the Agarakattu.Quilon to CHENNAI railway line is passing through the Agarakattu. Once upon a time Agarakattu is in the taluk of shencottai,which was in the part Kerala state.After death of Mr.Nesamani Nadar , Mr.kunjan Nadar, Mr.Chidamparampillai Nadar, Agarakattu (Shencottai taluk) and kaniyakumari district was joined to tamilnadu by Tamilnadu chief minister KAMARAJ. Agarakattu is connected by both road and rail, the town is growing rapidly in business and agriculture. The business of Agarakattu mainly depends upon agriculture. Agricultural goods, mainly vegetables and food grains, are transported to the different parts of the state and to Kerala. The main crops are paddy, onion, tomato, brinjal, tamarind, green chili, red chili, coconut, mango, and snake guard.

The Most famous St. Antony of Paduva Church has located center of this village which is increase faith among the people. St. Antony's festival celebrated during June 13.
