Naceur Damergi (born 1944 in Tunis - died November 17, 1990) was a Tunisian serial killer who was executed by hanging for raping and killing 13 minors in the Nabeul region during the 1980s.

Biography

Damergi was born in prison, spending his first months with his mother, who was imprisoned for prostitution. He only became acquainted with his biological father at the age of thirty.

He became a farmer, becoming engaged to his cousin in 1960. He emigrated to France in order to raise money for his marriage. When he returned to Tunisia in 1968, he discovered that his fianceé had married another man while he was away.

In 1970, he raped a 12-year old girl named Ghaya, proposing marriage to her afterwards - the girl's family refused and filed a complaint in court. He was imprisoned in 1971 and sentenced for rape, assault and attempted murder on Fatma, Ghaya's sister. Released in 1984, Damergi married a 17-year-old woman from Siliana, but the couple quickly divorced due to his sexual practises. In 1988, Damergi killed Fatma's young son.

Sentenced to death for the kidnapping, raping and murder of thirteen minors, Damergi's request for clemency was denied by president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali. He was hanged at dawn on November 17, 1990 in the Nador prison in Tunis.[1][2].

His case was examined on March 5, 2013 on the TV show Roufiat El Jalsa, on the Ettounsiya TV channel, the Tunisian version of the French show Get the Accused.[3]
