Alisha Ilhaan Bø (born March 6, 1997) known professionally as Alisha Boe, is a an American actress. She is known for portraying Jessica Davis in the Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why.

Early life

Bø was born in Oslo, Norway, to a Somali father and a Norwegian mother (from Trondheim).[1][2] She and her mother moved to Los Angeles when Alisha was seven years old because her mother married an American man. Boe attended two middle schools: George Ellery Hale Middle School and Ivy Academia. She ended up graduating middle school at Hale. While she was in high school she attended El Camino Real High School[citation needed] commonly known as “ECR” or “Elco” located in the Woodland Hills district of the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California, where she attended their drama program. Her high school was also known for their alumni actors who had also been enrolled in their drama program. She later dropped out of high school to pursue her acting career, whereupon she became the first Somali actress to hold a leading role in an American film since Iman.[3]

Career

Boe made her acting debut in 2008, when she landed a role of Child Lisa in the horror film Amusement.[4] A year later she appeared in the film He's On My Mind as Laci and in 2012 in Paranormal Activity 4 as Tara. In 2014, she guest-starred in two shows, in January as Tracy McCoy, Cameron Tucker's student in Modern Family,[5][6] and in July, as Brynn Hendry in two episodes of the thriller show Extant.[7] In November 2014, she joined the cast of NBC's soap opera drama series Days of Our Lives in a recurring role of Daphne. She debuted on November 14, 2014.[8] In 2017 she played the role Jessica in the Netflix Original series 13 Reasons Why.
