In September 24, 1856, it was founded by Rev Fr. Andres Martin, OSA as the Chapel of the Corpus Christi then it was elevated to the status of a parroquia (Parish Church) when Novaliches became a town.
In September 15, 2008, the parish church was proclaimed and elevated to the status of a Diocesan Shrine by His Excellency Most Rev. Antonio R. Tobias JCL .[3]
On December 20, 2017 just a few days before Christmas, former drug dependents declared their commitment to never return to their former lives, during the recently-concluded Quezon City Community Based Drug Rehabiliation Program (QC CBDRP) graduation at Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy.[4][5]
The feast day of the Parish is September 24.[6][7]
