YG initially introduced Kim through a photo teaser in 2012 and again in 2013. She was revealed as a part of the final line-up in 2016.[4]

In 2015, Kim made a cameo appearance in the KBS2 drama, The Producers, alongside label mates Sandara Park and Kang Seung-yoon.[5]

Kim debuted as a member of Blackpink in August 2016. The group has released two Korean extended plays, Square Up and Kill This Love, along with a Japanese studio album, Blackpink in Your Area, and extended play Blackpink.

In October 2018, Kim along with the rest of Blackpink signed with Interscope Records in partnership with YG Entertainment to represent them outside of Asia.[6]

In April 2019, Blackpink became the first female K-pop artists to perform at Coachella.[7]

Philanthropy

On April 8, 2019, Kim, along with her group mates from Blackpink, donated 10 million won each towards the Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief for the victims of the Sokcho wildfire in South Korea.[8]

While still a trainee, Kim was featured in several advertisements in 2015 and 2016 for brands such as Samsonite[9][unreliable source] alongside actor Lee Min-ho, Smart Uniform,[10] LG Electronics,[11] and Nikon.[12]
