Felix Barrett MBE is the founder and Artistic Director of Punchdrunk[1] and Punchdrunk International.
In 2000, Barrett founded Punchdrunk, a British theatre company internationally recognised as pioneering game-changing ways for audiences to experience culture.[2][3][4]
In 2015, a new company was formed. Punchdrunk International produces a selection of Punchdrunk’s commercial productions for national and international audiences.
Barrett is a graduate and Honorary Doctorate in Drama of the University of Exeter and was one of the first recipients of a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund Award (supporting exceptional arts practitioners in the development of their vision)[5]. He was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to theatre.[6]
Maxine Doyle and Barrett are the directors of Punchdrunk's award-winning production of Sleep No More in London, Boston and New York City where it recently celebrated its eighth birthday and has been playing to sell out audiences since 2011.
In 2016, Punchdrunk International collaborated with Shanghai Media Group to re-imagine Sleep No More in Shanghai where it has become the fastest-selling theatrical production in the city and continues to run.[7]
Barrett is the creator and executive producer of The Third Day, a co-production between Sky Studios and HBO, in partnership with Plan B Entertainment, writer Dennis Kelly and Punchdrunk International. It will be the company's first TV production and will air in the UK and the US in 2020.[8]
