University of Kigali (UoK) is a fully accredited and chartered university by the Government of Rwanda. UoK started its operations in October 2013.[1][2]

Location

The temporary campus of the university is located along KG 541 Street, in the central business district of Kigali, the capital and largest city in Rwanda. The geographical coordinates of the university campus are:01°57'03.0"S, 30°05'35.0"E (Latitude:-1.950833; Longitude:30.093056).[3] The university has plans to relocate to larger premises in Masaka at a later date.[2]

History

The university started operations in October 2013, with 649 students and has experienced rapid growth in enrolment of more than 6,000 students in the undergraduate programmes and more than 1,000 students in the postgraduate programmes. Its main campus is based in Kigali, Boulevard de l'Umuganda in Kacyiru and its secondary campus in Musanze, RSSB building. The University has international students from Nigeria, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, China, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ethiopia, Turkey, Central African Republic, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Angola, Congo (Brazzaville), Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
