Just noticed this draft version of a Nao article was submitted at the end of last year: [[Draft:Nao_(singer)]]. It seems to have been written by her manager (one "Sam Stubbings"). It got rejected twice. I guess that's not surprising seeing that it's quite heavy on the [[WP:Peacock]] terms. Anyway there's probably a bit of background material there which could be added to this page, including a photograph, assuming Sam Stubbings does own the copyright. Draft version available

Just noticed this draft version of a Nao article was submitted at the end of last year: Draft:Nao_(singer). It seems to have been written by her manager (one "Sam Stubbings"). It got rejected twice. I guess that's not surprising seeing that it's quite heavy on the WP:Peacock terms. Anyway there's probably a bit of background material there which could be added to this page, including a photograph, assuming Sam Stubbings does own the copyright. Date of birth

My apologies first of all to User:Jamie van Dolska -- I wasn't intending to start an edit war. I did a little research on Nao back in January (there was a project on Wikipedia in January to create profiles on female singers: in the end User:Mountaincirque created this page, so I did a few other "Sound of 2016" nominees instead). Once I found out Nao's real name I quickly found out her approximate date of birth, and I noticed back then that her age was being slightly understated in online articles so I let things be. Anyway I've now added a month-of-birth to this page. It comes from Companies House ([1]): she is currently director of a music entity known as "Little Tokyo Recordings". Companies House is not the sort of organisation you'd lie about your date-of-birth to. Corroborating evidence can be found on a database at Genes Reunited: ([2]) -- now the interesting thing there is that it is says she was born in the first quarter of 1988, however I've noticed on that database that if someone is born at right the end of one quarter then it sometimes shoves their quarter-of-birth into the next quarter, so I guess late December 1987 is probably right.

I remember reading last year ([3]) about how Paloma Faith, when she was first signed, claimed she was younger than she was, because the music industry is quite harsh about signing on women in their late 20's. I don't know if that's the case here. Pasicles (talk) 19:42, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for a thoughtful post, all seems in order to me. Mountaincirque 09:50, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This Fader interview also mentions that she is 27. pedro home | talk 17:31, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I know, and 18 months ago she was 24! I did in the end find a precise DOB (it's a few days before Christmas 1987 - but I'm not going to link to the somewhat private document in question). I feel a bit bad about having put her real age on the article if she's currently knocking a year off. I'm not sure what's the best policy really. Pasicles (talk) 21:02, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Should we condense the Genre section?

I would suggest condensing into Soul, R&B, Avante-Garde, Electronic and Funk. It’s easier to read and most understand it better over vague genres such as Avante-R&B/Soul Dirke31 (talk) 20:33, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
