Alhaj Ghulam Qadir Ganipuri was born on 22 July 1937 in Akhyarpur village of Bhatyas (Bhalessa) area. Alhaj graduated from Khilotran High School (Bhalessa) in 1954. Ganipuri established a Madrasa (school) in 1983 on the pattern of Darul Uloom Deoband known as Madrasa Jamia Guni tul Uloom Akhyarpur Bhatyas.[1][6]

Ganipuri mostly used to sit on a mattress in the corner of his room where a huge number of supplicants in rows visit one by one in front of him. He was a Hakeem and his followers considered him as Murshid. Muslims as well as Hindus from the locality and also from Poonch, Kathua, and other places would meet him and tell him their troubles. He listened to each of them patiently and advised them on a solution for their woes. He was a Sufi and respected among locals.[9]
