Speedy deletion nomination of File:Air India Express Flight 1344 crash.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Air India Express Flight 1344 crash.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 18:12, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- FileImporter and FileExporter became standard features on all Wikis during the first week of August. They help you transfer files from local wikis to Wikimedia Commons with the original file information and history intact. [1]
Problems
- The mobile skin displays a message at the bottom of the page about who edited last. This message showed raw wikitext. This has now been fixed. Some messages in Structured Discussions and content translation may still appear as raw wikitext. Developers are working on it. [2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from August 11. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from August 12. It will be on all wikis from August 13 (calendar).
Future changes
- All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on September 1. This is planned between 13:30 and 15:30 UTC. More information will be published in Tech News and will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [3][4]

DYK for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport
On 11 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport won the title of Best Improved Airport in the Asia-Pacific region in 2014 and 2015? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
University of Calcutta
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article University of Calcutta has been completed.
A couple of things. You asked that the citations' formatting be fixed. This is not something GOCE editors usually do. I did "fix" the first four or five and realized it would take hours of work to go through them all. However, I did make sure the date format on all the citations is the same, day/month/year.
Information in the lede must also be included in the body of the article. With the exception of the details about Nobel laureates this is not the case. Because the Nobel laureates were also included in the body of the article I was able to move the citation from the lede to the body of the article. (Unless it is highly controversial, information in the lede does not need to be cited because it will be cited in the body of the article.)
Text that indicates the "university has secured the fifth position" in the lede is contradicted in the article. Most of the citations in the Faculties section no longer support the information in the text.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,

Your GA nomination of East Bengal Ultras
The article East Bengal Ultras you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:East Bengal Ultras for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Kosack -- Kosack (talk) 07:01, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, the last review mislead me. it said, there's only 1 issue left. Also, goce copyedit was done after ur december review ❯❯❯ S A H A 10:17, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi ArnabSaha, I can't comment on the previous review, only what I see I'm afraid. I was unaware of the GOCE copyedit, normally they will place a tag on the talk page to indicate one has been carried out so that's how I missed it. However, this copyedit was carried out in December and we are eight or nine months past that now, so there are bound to be further changes since then. As I noted in the review, I was hopeful that this would be in a position to pass at the start. It has improved considerably since my first review, but the clear issue with the sources being word for word reproductions is no good at any level, let alone going for GA status. These sections need to be in your own words, if you rewrite them and address the more minor points in the review, this would likely go through, keeping in mind the issues raised in the three reviews while you go. I hope this helps. Kosack (talk) 12:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, I have addressed the issues mentioned in the article. Please have a look. and I am requesting for a copyedit. regarding paraphrasing, i did some. some are simple sentences, which i couldnt change. chant citation, its based on the soundcloud reference. ❯❯❯ S A H A 12:59, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, for "first ultras group", can't these be used as a source?
- "revolution in Fans Culture in India"
- [5] articles like these (evolution, emergence of ultras) mention East Bengal at the beginning 2013.
- [6] here the fan/ultras groups mentioned were established after 2013.
- " pioneers of Ultras movement in India"
- "The concept of founding an Ultras section is, however, pretty new. In December 2013, the Ultras first attended a match as a unit, which was away at Bengaluru." ❯❯❯ S A H A 19:24, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- There are two issues with the sentence. The first is that information in the lead that is not mentioned in the main body needs a source. I can't see any mention of them being the first in the main text, so a source is needed. Secondly, the sources above appear to be a little loose in confirming that they were the first Ultras group in India. The phrase "pioneers" is used in two of them but I'd imagine that's more in reference to them coming up with new ideas rather than being the first. Ref one is probably the most convincing so I'd repeat that in the sentence, unless you plan on adding the information to the main body. Kosack (talk) 19:59, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, ok then, i will add this in the body. with the 1st reference. also found this bengali newspaper which says "There are many fanclubs of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. They help the club in different activities. East BEngal Ultras are completely different. They have brought a new culture in the stadium. They dont use slangs when the team loses. They sing and channt the whole match like European fans." ❯❯❯ S A H A 06:05, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

- There is a significant amount of hidden text in the chants and slogans section? Kosack (talk) 09:22, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
Images
- Out of interest, where are the images contained in the article coming from? They all seem to be listed as your own work, but the Bangladesh World Cup image for example looks exactly like the photo in the Times of India ref? Kosack (talk) 07:51, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, I got it from my brother. I asked him to upload in commons, but he refused, saying he doesn't want to create an account and all. He sent me, I uploaded. If there's any kind of violation, I will remove the images. ❯❯❯ S A H A 09:07, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- For an image to be viable for inclusion it needs to be released under a fair use license or you or the uploaded needs to be the copyright holder. If these are lifted directly from news sites, then it's highly unlikely that they have been released under a suitable license. This needs to be cleared up before a new GA review. Kosack (talk) 09:21, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kosack, sure. i asked my brother, he said that the photos were captured by him. but I also agree that world cup photo is similar to the ref. ❯❯❯ S A H A 12:55, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- If you revert an edit using the undo link your edit is marked with an
undo
tag. This will now only happen if you don't change anything in the edit window before publishing the undo. This is to keep users from marking edits as undos when they actually do something else. [7] - The new OOUI version will not work with Internet Explorer 8. This means the wikis will look strange and not work well in Internet Explorer 8. This was reported in Tech/News/2020/17. This is because keeping the wikis working with very old browsers creates other problems. [8]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 August. It will be on all wikis from 20 August (calendar).
