Fake news regarding the farmer protests

The article states that there has been fake news posted by the government and the ruling party BJP but there are also fake news posted in different mediums by the opposition parties and the protesting farmer unions. it also must be noted that majority more than 90% of these farmers are from Punjab and Haryana. The article posted on wiki looks like that all the 28 states and 8 Union Territories are protesting represent the whole of India but in reality it's false. This article is very much biased. This thing must be made unbiased and neutral. Debjyoti Gorai 10:12, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Requested move 25 January 2021

2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest2020–2021 Indian farmers protest – Apostrophe (') is not need in this page because it is too ungrammatical and due to fact that some source calls it farmers protest (without apostrophe) such as Hindustan Times instead farmers' protest. Another option would be 2020–21 Indian farmers' protest (with apostrophe) or 2020–21 Indian farmers protest (without apostrophe). 110.137.190.132 (talk) 01:52, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - not particularly controversial. Albertaont (talk) 01:03, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - not required. SenatorLEVI 04:01, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • oppose the statement Apostrophe (') is not need in this page because it is too ungrammatical is itself ungrammatical. Like the nomination says, some sources use without the apostrophe, that means some use it with apostrophe. "Farmers protest" would be ambiguous: by farmers? For farmers? Or against farmers? Current title is appropriate. —usernamekiran (talk) 05:33, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Usernamekiran summed it up nicely. Without apostrophe will be too ambiguous and year–year is per MOS:YEARRANGE. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 07:40, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose' The current version is grammatically correct. HT may have bad grammar, but that is not enough reason for us to abandon grammar. Walrus Ji (talk) 09:28, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Misquotation from Scroll.in article in the Response and reactions section

Under the Incidents of fake news sub-section, the sentence that presently reads, 'A protester told Scroll.in that "The Modi media is calling us Khalistanis [...] We have been sitting peacefully for one month, however recently violent. That make us terrorists."' is a misquotation from the original article. It should be changed to: 'A protester told Scroll.in that "The Modi media is calling us Khalistanis [...] We have been sitting peacefully for two months. That makes us terrorists?"' — Preceding unsigned comment added by Epictitus (talkcontribs) 21:01, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Epictitus, Thank you for noticing that and bringing it to attention here. I have made the corrections on the page. Tayi Arajakate Talk 00:51, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Republic Day

Looks like there are a number of reliable sources reporting on the renewed protests ongoing, e.g. Reuters, Associated Press. Any takers on updating the article with the most recent developments? Not quite sure where it would go, a 1-liner in the current timeline section seems insufficient. The article may need a bit of restructuring to expand on the details of what is actually happening. - Indefensible (talk) 06:23, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefensible, Please include these reliable sources on 2021 Farmers' Republic day parade. Walrus Ji (talk) 13:14, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"However, farmer leaders pointed to the union government's conspiracy by citing the present of actor Deep Sidhu at the Red Fort. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party associate and was the election manager for actor-politician Sunny Deol when he contested on a BJP ticket from Gurdaspur in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Deep Sidhu was candidly doing Facebook Live from Red Fort"

Such biased, opinionated statements are not expected in an encyclopedia. This section is much better written about the same subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.51.59.82 (talk) 11:54, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please state changes you feel must be made. This section that you pointed is out is backed by RSes. The wording is paraphrased and is not incorrect or opinionated. Several sources have covered the storming of the Red Fort in a similar degree of detail and nature. If you feel anything is biased please back it up with RSes and provide a replacement, better yet you could edit it yourself. SenatorLEVI 06:14, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Following 2 changes need to be updated in this section:
1. As a mark of protest against the violence and siege on Red Fort Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) and All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee has declared to quit from agitation. Reference: https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/two-farmer-unions-withdraw-from-agitation-against-farm-laws-citing-republic-day-violence/article33676668.ece
2. More than 300 cops were injured in the violence created by protesters using batons and sharp weapons. [1][2][3] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.56.104.108 (talk) 11:43, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh condemned the violence.[4] Pawar said that he does not support the violence that took place during the farmers' protest in Delhi but noted that the Centre should realise that why the chaos erupted during the tractor parade in Delhi.[5] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4071:211D:68B7:0:0:23E1:F0A5 (talk) 16:25, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
