Vela Ramamoorthy is an Indian writer and actor who has appeared in Tamil language films.
His novels are Pattathu Yaanai, Kutraparambarai (initially known as Kootanchoru) and Kuruthi Aattam. His short stories are compiled and released as Vela Ramamoorthy Kathaikal.
Career
He is a PUC Graduate. He joined the Indian Army and served for five years. Then he was posted in Post office. Since he is a writer, many people would come to meet him in his office. "I used to spend half of my salary in the tea shops." He remembers in an interview with ‘Pudhiya Thalamurai ‘ Tamil magazine. Vela Ramamoorthy has written acclaimed Tamil novels including Kuttra Parambarai and Kuruthi Aattam, and is considered one of the leading Tamil story writers of his time.[1][2] He was also involved in the dispute regarding the rights of making a film out of Kuttra Parambarai and had supported Bala's project ahead of Bharathiraja's.[3]
In the mid-2010s, he was cast as an actor and has since gone on to portray supporting roles in notable films including Komban (2015), Paayum Puli (2015) and Sethupathi (2016).[4][5]
