His grandfather was Philippe d'Aquin born Mordekhaï Crescas, his father Louis-Henri d'Aquin fr, physician to Queen Marie de' Medici, and his mother Claire Louis Lopez[3], daughter of Alfonso Henri, secretary to the pretender to the throne of Portugal, Don Antonio, then financial agent and adviser to Cardinal Richelieu, and of Claire Franc.
Antoine studied medicine in Montpellier, became a doctor there (1648) and in 1656 acquired the survivorship of his father's office.[2]
