Battle Cry is a grand strategic American Civil War board game produced by the Milton Bradley Company as part of their popular American Heritage series.[1]
The game was originally published in 1961, for the 100th anniversary of the US Civil War.[1]
Battle Cry was reprinted in the 1970s.[1] The game was part of a series of four titles (a fifth was added in 1975) printed in the early 1960s to tap into the growing interest in historical games, including wargaming.
According to The Civil War in Popular Culture it "was almost certainly the best-selling game on the Civil War..."[1]

Battle Cry and Civil War came out in 1961, during the Civil War centenial. Battle Cry, produced by Milton Bradley, was almost certainly the best-selling game on the Civil War, and was available at many mainstream stores during the war's centenial and the nation's bicentennaial.
