The Voice Georgia (Georgian: The Voice საქართველო) is a reality television show and singing competition broadcast from Georgia on 1tv. From season one throughout three, the show was called The Voice of Georgia (Georgian: ახალი ქართული ხმა, literally: New Voice of Georgia) and was broacasted on IMEDI TV. It is part of the international syndication The Voice based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, launched in the Netherlands, created by Dutch television producer John de Mol. Its first season kicked off on October 4, 2012 and finished on January 13, 2013.[2][3]
One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, composers and producers, train talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner.[4]
The winner of first season was Salome Katamadze with 48.6% of the votes. She was awarded by the show's sponsor, Geocell, a trip to Los Angeles, California to record single at Universal Music Studio. She was also provided with a flat in Digomi Palace Complex by Archi Group located in Tbilisi.[5][6][7]
In 2013, IMEDI TV produced a kids version of the show titled, in Georgian, as ახალი საბავშო ხმა (lit.: New Kids' Voice). The coaches were Dato Porchkhidze, Eka Kakhiani, and Stephane Mgebrishvili, with Samory Balde and Ruska Makashvili as the presenters.
Starting in 2021, the show will be rebooted by the channel 1tv.[8]
