Githurai is a composition of several estates and townships is located at the border of Nairobi County and Kiambu County along the Thika Road superhighway. Githurai is home to St Lucie Kiriri Girls High School and Kiriri Women's University of Science and Technology[1] Lily Academy and St. Kizito Vocational Training Institute.[2][3] Githurai is served by the Thika Road Super Highway and a branch of the Kenya-Uganda Railway from Nairobi to Thika via Ruiru. Githurai 45 has several banks including Family Bank, Equity Bank, and Cooperative Bank and Saccos such as the famous Kingdom Sacco have pitched tent due to the busy market. Supermarkets in the estate include Naivas, Stanmart, and Kasmart. According to an article[7] in the Standard Newspaper, Githurai 45 Matatu's operate 24 hours especially the famous Paradiso, Virginia, Jeean, Rockerz, Zamzam. The main PSV saccos operating in the area include Nicco, ZamZam, Virginia Coach, Githurai 45 Sacco, and Super Highway Sacco. The PSV's can be boarded from Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi very cheaply. Githurai is also home to GreenCo (ISWM) Enterprise and Raja plastics which are recycling companies.
