Sing 2: World Tour (Previously Titled: Sing 2) is an upcoming American computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Illumination. A sequel to the 2016 film Sing, the film will be written and directed by Garth Jennings and will star Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton and Tori Kelly reprising their roles from the first film. The sequel also features new characters voiced by Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, Chelsea Peretti, Bono, and Pentatonix.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021, by Universal Pictures.
Synopsis
The film follows Buster and his new cast, who now have their sights set on debuting a new show at the Crystal Tower Theater in glamorous Redshore City. But without connections, he and his singers must sneak into the Crystal Entertainment offices, run by the ruthless wolf mogul Jimmy Crystal, where the gang pitches the ridiculous idea of casting the lion rock legend Clay Calloway in their show. Buster must embark on a quest to find the now-isolated Clay and persuade him to return to the stage.[1]

Production
Development
On January 25, 2017, Universal Pictures and Illumination announced a sequel to its 2016 animated film Sing. Writer/director Garth Jennings and producers Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy return along with voiceover stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll, and Tori Kelly.[4]
In December 2020, Bobby Cannavale, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, Chelsea Peretti, Pharrell Williams, Bono and Halsey were added to the voice cast.[1]
In January 6, 2021, Pentatonix were add to the voice cast (Credit to Fernando D. Montes)
Animation
Work on the film shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was done remotely following the temporary closure of Illumination Mac Guff.[5]
Release
Sing 2 was originally scheduled to be released on December 25, 2020, by Universal Pictures.[6] On April 12, 2019, the film was pushed back to July 2, 2021.[7] On April 1, 2020, the film was pushed back again to December 22, 2021 with Minions: The Rise of Gru taking the July 2, 2021 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the film industry.[8]
