Storytel AB is a Swedish audiobook streaming subscription service based in Stockholm, Sweden.

It competes with Audible and is available in more than 20 countries.[1]

History

It was founded in 2006 by Jonas Tellander and Jon Hauksson.[2]

Storytel bought Swedish largest book publisher Norstedts in 2016.[3]

The service expanded to Russia, Spain, India and the United Arab Emirates in 2017.[3]

In January 2021, it surpassed 1.5 million paid subscribers mark.[4]
