Abubakar Salim is an English actor and video-game voice actor. He has provided his voice and motion capture for video games such as Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Origins and has acted in television series such as Jamestown and Raised by Wolves.

Early life

Born to a working-class family, and raised in "a small council house in quite a rough area- the Knella part of Welwyn Garden City" in Hertfordshire, Salim is a second-generation Briton, of Kenyan descent. His father was a software engineer for Xerox who was made redundant, and his mother a carer. Salim is dyslexic. Due to the unsafe local area, his parents sent him to martial arts classes; he practised jujutsu for about ten years, before developing an interest in youth theatre.[1][2] He began his acting career at age 16 when he was accepted into the National Youth Theatre after his first audition. He subsequently received scholarships to further his career.[3]

Acting and video game career

His most notable acting role is Father in the streaming series Raised by Wolves.[4][5] Salim had a voice-role in the 2017 video game Assassin's Creed Origins.[5] The role garnered him a BAFTA nomination.[3] Salim also portrayed Pedro in the British TV series Jamestown.[5] He is also the founder and CEO of Silver Rain Games.[6] A self-described fan of video games, Salim noted that his work for Origins gave him a better insight into the development process for video games, which eventually inspired him to pursue a career in video game development and establish his own studio.[7]
